A Short Introduction to RECAST and Agile Scenarios
We live in interesting times, and figuring out what to do next in this mix of uncertainty and fear, is probably the most important thing leaders are working on and thinking about today.
As we’ve moved past the initial shock of COVID 19, it’s become apparent that some things have changed for now, and some have changed for good. The trick seems to be figuring out which things are which.
For the foreseeable future there is no return to old normal, it’s this next normal we need to engage with.
As a Consultant, I’ve had a front row seat to how this crisis has impacted businesses, leaders and their teams. I’ve also felt the frustration of not knowing exactly what to do next.
It was with that feeling of uncertainty that I reached out a mentor of mine, John McDonald, with a question.
How do you help teams rally around uncertainty and chart a path to success in an uncertain future?
The result of that conversation, and a few months of testing, poking and prodding, is RECAST, an open source strategy project that helps leaders and teams of all sizes dance with uncertainty and get to clarity using a methodology we’re calling Agile Scenarios.
We’ve just launched RECAST.world, a site that outlines what Agile Scenarios are, how to use them and how to implement them in your team or organization.
I sat down with John to talk about the project so far, and share some of our hopes for whats next.
RECAST is an open source strategy project, and we’re looking for collaborators. Do you know an entrepreneur, innovation leader or organization that is trying to make sense of uncertainty, and align their team around a vision for the future, please pass this on.
